(FILM, GRAPHIC DESIGN)

(2025)

This project revolved around making a ‘sweded’ film: a creative remake of a well-known film using minimal resources. Together with my team, I recreated a scene from Fight Club.

Assignment

For the final project of my first year at Cibap, we were tasked with making a sweded film. We worked in groups of four and were allowed to choose a film and scene ourselves.

The challenge was to create a recognizable and convincing remake with a small budget. In addition to the film, we also had to deliver extra components, such as a shot list, posters, photos, and a process book.

Process

We quickly chose Fight Club because of its strong atmosphere and recognizable style. Next, we started analyzing the scene. We looked at camera angles, lighting, and composition. Based on that, we created a shot list and gathered props and clothing.

We filmed for two evenings on location at a gas station in Zwolle. During filming, we encountered various challenges, such as lighting conditions and practical limitations on location. I actively contributed ideas for solutions so that we could still shoot all the scenes.

In addition to filming, I also worked on the visual elements, such as the posters, and created the process booklet. We tried to recreate the style of the original film as closely as possible using simple means, and we succeeded well.

Result

The final result is a recognizable and creative remake of the original scene. The atmosphere, visuals, and design align well with Fight Club.

We received a lot of positive feedback on both the film and the posters and the process booklet. We were allowed to watch our own film scenes back in the cinema. We were also allowed to present this project to family and friends.
For me, this was an educational project. I learned how a film production works, how to collaborate under time pressure, and how to achieve a strong result with limited resources.
